8 Day South Luangwa Bushcamp Adventure - Seasonal Tour

Day 1 - Arrive Mfuwe and transfer to Mfuwe Lodge for 1 night

On arrival at Mfuwe airport you will be met and transferred to Mfuwe Lodge, about a 40 minute drive. Mfuwe is accessible on direct flights from Lusaka.

You will stay for 1 night at Mfuwe Lodge in a Luxury chalet including all meals (drinks are not included), game activities and park fees. Activities offered here include game drives and walking safaris in South Luangwa Park. Set within the banks of two lagoons, Mfuwe Lodge's comfortable charm and calm surroundings make it a lovely stopover point before going onto the more remote camps in southern South Luangwa.

The lodge is set in the park 5 min away from the main gate. Each chalet is kitted out with modern furniture standing on polished stone floors offering views of the lagoon and game viewing.

The game viewing in the area is impressive. Giraffes, hippos, antelope & crocodile are seen regularly from Mfuwe's lagoon and in November local elephants have been seen wandering through the lobby tempted by the nearby mango tree- that would be an exciting start!

Day 2-3 Transfer to Bilimungwe Bushcamp for 2 nights

Today you will transfer to Bilimungwe Bushcamp, about a 2 hr 30 min drive ( at game viewing speed). With just 4 rooms, this is an intimate stylish camp which was rebuilt in 2011. Surrounded by wildlife, each chalet overlooks a group of shady waterholes with a resident hippo where impala, puku, warthog, elephant and baboons are often seen coming to drink.

The camp is located in the remote southern end of South Luangwa. Each large, elegant chalet is set beneath shady, mahogany trees that help to keep the rooms cool during the hottest months. Each chalet is constructed of reed and cane under a tall thatched roof, and raised up on a wooden platform. Inside they are light, bright and airy yet still retaining a bushcamp feel.

You will stay 2 nights here including all meals, drinks, park fees and activities. These include game day and night drives and walking safaris in the park. Due to seasonal opening we sometimes substitute this camp for one of the same standard.

Day 4-5 Transfer to Chindeni Camp for 2 nights

Today you will transfer to Chindini Camp, this will be part of a game drive so will take approx an hour depending on what is seen along the way. Located in the remote, southern part of the South Luangwa National Park the camp is set high above the Luangwa river providing spectacular views onto the Chindeni Hills.

Its four gorgeous tented rooms are very romantic and are on raised wooden platforms. The camp is beautiful, modern and minimalist. Sightings have included leopard, hyena, giant kingfishers, porcupines and the elusive aardvark on an evening drive.

Activities offered here are walking safaris and day & night game drives. The area is very remote with very few other vehicles around making it a very exclusive safari experience.

You will stay 2 nights here including all meals, drinks, park fees and activities. Due to seasonal opening we sometimes substitute this camp for one of the same standard.

Day 6-7 Transfer to Chamilandu Bushcamp for 2 nights

Today you will transfer to Chamilandu which is about a 1 hour drive. This will be done at game viewing speed with stops along the way if anything is seen.

Chamilandu Bushcamp is a small camp set in the shade of some tall African ebony trees, perched on the bank of a winding section of the Luangwa River. The camp is stylish, whilst retaining a traditional bushcamp feeling.

Activities from Chamilandu consist of walking safaris and day and night game drives. A diversity of wildlife can be seen, including zebra, impala, puku and water buck, as well as the shyer species that prefer the riverine thickets, like kudu and leopard.

You will stay 2 nights here including all meals, drinks, park fees and activities. Due to seasonal opening we sometimes substitute this camp for one of the same standard.

Day 8 Transfer to Mfuwe Airport

Today you will be transferred to Mfuwe Airport for your onward flight. This will be approximately 2-2.5 hour drive. Depending on the flight times this transfer will be done as a game drive through the park.

Featured Benefits: South Luangwa is one of the 'hidden gems' in Africa. It gets less visitors than other parks, yet offers some of the most spectacular game viewing in Africa. One of the best things about staying at a bush camp is that they are situated in remote areas with few vehicles and offer an exclusive wild safari experience. The camps in this itinerary are stylish & romantic whilst also retaining a true bushcamp feel. They are perfect for serious safari goers and special occasions like honeymoons.
