Maun

Maun is the fifth largest town in Botswana. As of 2011 (last definitiv census), it had a population of 55,784. Maun is the "Tourism Capital" of Botswana and the administrative centre of the Ngamiland district. Maun is connected to Francistown by the A3 motorway. In addition Maun also serves as the main hub for safari and charter flights into the Okavango Delta.

Although Maun is officially still a village, it has quickly developed from a rural border town and now extends along the Thamalakane River. Today Maun offers shopping malls, hotels and lodges, as well as car rental companies. Yet the rural atmosphere of Maun is preserved and local tribesmen continue to bring their cattle to Maun to sell it.
