Fig Tree Bush Camp

Fig Tree Bush Camp: Our View
Fig Tree Bush Camp has a gorgeous location, hidden in the bush inside Kafue Park, overlooking a lagoon. However, this bush camp is not far from the main access road to the Park, making it easily accessible from Lusaka. Fig Tree Bush Camp isa very good standalone option, or a good option at the start or end of a safari, should clients want to explore more remote regions of the park such as the Busanga Plains.
Fig Tree Bush Camp is very different in style to its sister camp Mukambi Safari Lodge. With just 4 tented ‘treehouse’ rooms, it is a small, intimate camp, rustic in style, but very smart. Perfect for clients looking for an authentic safari in a wild and remote feeling location.
For a camp with a relatively upmarket feel, Fig Tree is reasonably priced. Combining it with sister camp Mukambi Safari Lodge would be a great option for clients wanting a longer safari at an affordable price in Kafue Park. Or for clients with a higher budget, combining it with their other sister camp, Busanga Plains Camp in the remote Busanga Plains region, would be a fantastic option.

Fig Tree Bush Camp: The Details
The 4 tented rooms at Fig Tree Bush Camp are identical. It is just the views that may differ! Three rooms look out onto the Shishamba riverbed, while the 4th room looks out over grassy plains, and a waterhole. It should be noted that the river is often dry but that usually a small lagoon remains all year round. The rooms are elevated 3 metres from the ground, giving them the feel of rather smart treehouses. Each room has a wooden staircase that leads to a polished stone platform with a small verandah to relax on and admire the views. The rooms are simply but comfortably furnished, each with twin or double beds, wicker chairs, and a storage unit. All rooms have an ensuite bathroom with flush toilets and shower.
Sandy paths lead to the main communal area. This fits with the rustic, low key, bush camp style of the camp. A simple open sided lounge and dining area on a raised deck looks out over a lovely sand bed, the lagoon itself, as well as the boma area where a fire is lit in the sand every night. The camp also has a small swimming pool, which is areal bonus for a small bush camp like this!
Game viewing in this area is very productive, with good sightings of plains game and predators. Like much of Kafue Park, this area never gets very busy and offers a peaceful and uncrowded safari experience at an affordable price. Activities offered are game drives and walking safaris.
