Sanctuary Kusini

Sanctuary Kusini: Our View
Sanctuary Kusini is a superb camp, with an excellent location deep in the southern Serengeti and far away from the main crowd.
The twelve luxury tented rooms and the more simple mess area, offer undoubtedly a top service and high quality. We consider this one of the best places to see the Migration between December to March, but availability can be an issue during this period. Prices are a little on the steep side and we found there are better price/value options in the Serengeti including some great mobile camps, although the remote location of Sanctuary Kusini is hard to beat.

Sanctuary Kusini: The Details
The site of Sanctuary Kusini in Tanzania’s southern Serengeti, was specially selected to incorporate a spectacular rocky outcrop giving fantastic views over game-filled plains. Animals are common all year round and it is perfect cheetah territory. Kusini’s speciality is the great wildebeest migration and calving season, which happens right on your doorstep from December to March.
Sanctuary Kusini has 12 en-suite safari tents that are a spacious 48sq meters, and shaded by acacia trees. The tented camp is carefully positioned to make best use of the views and like all Sanctuary properties, Kusini is designed to leave a minimal environmental impact. It could be packed up and removed leaving no trace.
The close of the day and sunset at Kusini is special for all. Cushions are placed on the lookout rocks (koppie), sunset drinks and canapés are served, while you take in the sensational 360-degree view of the Serengeti plains. After dinner, you may return here for a celestial safari of the night sky.
You feel pampered at Sanctuary Kusini. Each room has its own personal attendant who wakes you gently with an early morning tea, coffee or hot chocolate. There’s time for a delicious breakfast before the morning game activity, but don’t eat too much as there’s a full lunch prepared, or a specially prepared picnic. Dinner is no exception with a three-course plated dinner - you’ll never go hungry here!  Kusini helps you celebrate special occasions in privacy and they pull out all the stops to create romantic private sun downers and candle-lit bush dinners. The Honeymoon Suite is an extension to an already amazing camp and something that will create lasting memories.Â
It’s these amazing little touches at Sanctuary Kusini that you’ll never forget.
Getting there: It’s a 1.5-hour flight from Arusha to this remote southern section of the Serengeti, then a 15 minute game drive to camp.
